What do we need to power our tech lives? What could be more tech-savvy these days, not to mention eco-conscious, than solar power! Let’s be honest, a tech’d up life gone mobile though doesn’t really mean communing with nature. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just not our style. Often this means shore power, however, for our urban, roving, nomad/boondocking intentions, roving a lot means as much solar power as we can get to explore our cyberpunk landscape passions.
Join us as we move into 2021 with a brand new series exploring all the elements we’ll need to power our Tech’d Up Cyber Nomad Wagon, better known as the Cyber Rider Project. We’ll be covering Energy as a System, Solar Panels, Charge Controllers, Battery Banks, Battery Monitoring, Wiring-Switches-Fuses, and last but not least, Inverters. That’s seven systems in all.
Yes, we are gonna talk for a while but as the weather warms into 2021 we’ll be doing. And better yet, we’ll be sharing. As we explore the different systems we’ll be adding videos to share our actual journey using what we find, design, and buy along with the way while we build our own power system for the Cyber Rider Project!
See you all tomorrow for more Cyber-Inspiration with Cyber-Zen Fridays!
Each Thursday we bring you great, new, potential additions to your high-tech, low-life arsenal! We always help answer the question, How do I find the latest in cyberpunk gear?
The Glow of Neon
We all love the afterglow of the ’80s cyberpunk aesthetic for sure. There is no doubt either that so much of what truly makes the aesthetic in any cyberpunk feature film is the lighting. One of the most remembered scenes is of course that of Deckard’s apartment from Blade Runner (#Commissions Earned).
However, much of what we remember from cyberpunk film is the neon of course. It is so much part and parcel with the genre that it is oft-imitated in a wide variety of pleiotropic effects on our cultural diaspora. Just check this out…
Pulling neon into our own lives can be difficult though as it is often costly and can be fragile and break easily in a number of applications. If you are dying for the neon though, there are alternatives to still get that look without the fragility and costliness of those systems. Just check out EL Wire.
There are other great solutions to the lighting dilemma that face every cyberpunk aesthetic enthusiast looking to redefine their space. LED do it yourself designs provide just such an opportunity as well.
Another great DIY, we found and offer the Instructables Link for building a fantastic shadow box light whereby we can insert our own high-tech, low-life lighting designs to create the ambiance we yearn for in our tech’d up worlds.
Just so you know, we are not sponsored by any of these products, companies, or organizations. We just love to share the coolest gear out there to cyberize and self make our worlds! Come back soon and to check out more in Cyber-Gear follow this link!
Sharing is caring as they say and we care… a lot! As we did our Butterfly Network post yesterday that included our newest ravings over cyberpunk’d gear that’s changing the world, we thought we’d mix up the gear page day.
Today instead of a single, additional gear share, we thought we’d share our board(s) on Pinterest that we started for inspiration for the Cyber Rider Project…
Yeah, we know, pretty basic so far, but we are just getting going. Looking for black accents, cyberpunk’d aesthetic, and tech gear that jacks us in 24-7. Find something else that looks cool, let us know in the comments!
It’s time we build our own! The very essence of the Cyber Rider Project.
As a rule, we follow the technological advancements of corporate giants in tech health to help inform those of us individuals choosing to define for ourselves who we are and what we want to be. That means knowing the world and those tracking us, good and bad. Incredible advancements are made every day by health companies seeking to do good in the world, no doubt. However, we need to follow and examine them to enhance our own capabilities and positioning. We are not victims, we are active agents in our lives.
Street Medicine Pending…
You know we are getting closer and closer to the cyberpunk versions of street medicine and body mods when ultrasounds are now under $3k, first-gen models on eBay under $1000, and work with the cell phone in our pockets.
The road is long yes, but we are taking the first steps. And the tools necessary for those steps are becoming available by the day. The Butterfly Network is one such company providing those tools.
The story here is one of Med-Tech gone disruptor. With a tremendous $8 Billion market opportunity and the track to offer simplicity and affordability with ease of use and increased accessibility, the company is one worth watching.
The company is just on the verge of going public and infusing its coffers with a pile of cash!
As with any technological disruptor, getting it in the hands of as many as possible is always key. With so much of the world currently holding no access to medical imaging and with such great need for it, increased access combining ease of use and a significantly lower cost to competitors, this company is one that is worth watching as it grows toward a bigger role in the lives of the masses around the world.
Lots of money is coming as LGVW becomes BFLY and gains capital from private investment in the form of PIPE. One thing is for sure we are sure going to pay a close eye on the completion of the deal as we near the end of the first quarter in 2021.
The Outcome
With such an impact, the promise for a meaningful outcome is greatly enhanced. The ultimate opportunity here is to expand the ability of patients to get access to the care they need and improve the ability of the medical profession to be able to meet that need. If the tech fell to a few street vendors we wouldn’t be totally surprised.
The best part of the Butterfly Network outcome is not just that they are making such an impact, but they are improving on it all the time. With such a splash already made, they are already improving the physical device and the ability to use it with software upgrades including education mods.
The best outcome here is all the ways in which ultrasound is already helpful and safe, expanded to the ultimate use case!
Our Opportunity
Not only is this device and this company set to help fuel up the aesthetic of med-tech in our daily lives, I mean just look at how cool the aesthetic is on this thing, tell me we are daydreaming cyberpunk! Beyond this, though there are incredible fortunes to be made on this and this is where the punk in us see the opportunity to expand out and wants the masses to get in on the ability to increase our portion of the wealth pie. As it comes into our lives as a health device, it should also come into our lives as a wealth device!
In terms of investment, there is no doubt that the market is there. This company/product combo looks to be a best-in-class option with not only a great cash reserve to get through the upcoming growth period but also one with great tech, sky-high prospects with big margins but the balance sheet to set us up the right way.
The potential for revenue growth is clearly a top-line benefit, due in no small part to those increasing margins built on low production costs.
Ultimately, the best opportunity is the chance to get in on great tech that is built on an open ecosystem with power from artificial intelligence and an eye towards securing data from the outset. This, of course, bears the requirement of a watchful eye, but the future definitely looks bright!
As always, make sure we are thinking for ourselves out there, doing our own homework, and cyberize our lives with the best in disruptive tech. And for those fueled by health-tech make sure to explore our BCB Cyber Health Section in more detail!
Let’s be honest, a tech’d up life gone mobile doesn’t really include communing with nature a great deal. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just not our style. Instead, we are talking mostly urban boondocking and the like so we can maintain our links to the urban sprawl that feeds our cyberpunk aesthetic passions so well. After all, going digital nomad is at least half digital right???
Staying Connected
Living a tech’d-up mobile life also requires gaming, vid streaming, social media, and the like requiring multiple devices dancing around our heads, the new version of sugar plum ferries I guess, tis the season. Happy Holidays all, and today a special Happy Thanksgiving!
This all being said, a normal hotspot just will not do the trick even though it’s handy and economical. We are simply going to need greater capacity. Lower bandwidth is a killer with the hotspots when considering how connected we want to be.
Instead, we are building out a four-device rigging. Well, three plus a combo anyway…
The four elements of our proposed system are as follows:
SIM Card
Cellular Modem
Router/Wi-Fi Combo
Cell Signal Booster
WHOSE YOUR ISP?
Internet service providers are available everywhere and everyone has their favorite Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint; we all know the names. From scouring many sites (our favorite that we found), the top-recommended ISP for RV travel around the country (US), is often stated as Verizon for their network is simply farther ranging. From that favorite site of ours, where they could find AT&T they always had Verizon (they were using both), however wherever they had Verizon, they didn’t always have AT&T signal/service. As Verizon has long had the widest-ranging network in the US, we’ll most likely go with them as it’s our home-base.
WHICH CM?
Which cellular modem to choose isn’t really a difficult one as there are really only two in the conversation currently. Netgear and D-Link are the two most named in the conversation and from what we’ve heard the best options available. With Gigabit Internet, a small, lightweight form factor, and a really reasonable price point (often on sale toward $110) we can’t resist the Netgear 4G LTE (#CommissionsEarned).
Choosing the right booster is incredibly important as a strong signal is key to our cyber-connections. As we aim to be both mobile and stationary at times, need a strong signal that can be used with a variety of carriers (including Verizon), and that can be used in mobile or stationary our choice is the weBoost Drive Reach RV (470354) Cell Phone Signal Booster Kit (#CommissionsEarned). As it offers all these elements, and our goal is the best signal possible, we are working toward the $500 price point. Most importantly they not only are the original name in the game when it comes to cell signal boosts but also offer a two-year warranty and are 5G ready.
All that being said, any comments or recommendations?
Each Thursday we bring you great, new, potential additions to your high-tech, low-life arsenal! We always help answer the question, How do I find the latest in cyberpunk gear?
The Cyber Rider Project
Don’t worry, the vid-tour is coming (this Sunday; and will delay our next character study). Meet back here Sunday and you can take the tour with us of our newest Cyber Project.
No, we haven’t given the RV a name yet, but we’re seeking inspiration for the project as a whole. As such, we begin with a project name. In the hopes of finding inspiration in some of the best tech’d up examples in Cyberpunk, yes we’re including this in the Cyberpunk Universe – after all, there are even similarities to one of the best cars in Cyberpunk 2077 – but either way, we cannot ignore one the best tech-enhanced vehicles of the 80s.
As such, we’ve decided to name it after the show that brought us one of the best tech’d up rides ever, KITT. For those who don’t remember the 80’s, you may have heard of a car that David Hasselhoff – yeah, that Baywatch guy – used to talk to, and that saves him on multiple occasions in a television show called Knight Rider. In any case, in honor of that Knight Rider, we now call our RV project the Cyber Rider Project.
Cyber Rider Projects to Come…
The renovations to come in the Cyber Rider Project are all going to be as tech-focused as possible. Yes, we aim to show the transitional periods of keeping the old gal running and updating the shell to make it as safe, healthy, and ready for function as possible but one of the most exciting aspects is all the tech, and yes cyberpunk aesthetic, we are hoping to add.
One expectation is that our lowly lives make it too difficult to accomplish such a thing, but that is exactly the point of this site, to destroy those thoughts and build our cyber lives now! We do it for ourselves and everyone out there who dares to pursue their high-tech, low life passions.
In honor of this, we will post our first Cyber Rider Project Video on YouTube this coming Sunday (a tour of the RV that will delay our next character study by just one week), and then next Thursday will jump into sharing our thoughts as we explore the many systems to come. As no cyberpunk experience would be complete without the opportunity to jack-in to cyberspace, we begin these explorations on Thanksgiving (11-26-20) with a chat about routing and switching (layer 3 techs), when it comes to mobile life.

So we have some exciting news to share…
The answer to our questions above this week is to definitely make it yourself. We don’t just talk, we do here at BCB Cyber. One of our many projects, we are in the beginning phases of an RV renovation that will take a little bit of inspiration from Cyberpunk 2077’s Nomads, a little heavy duty beast flair (see vid below), and a vision on Tesla’s Cybertruck (see here), to convert a 1980 Dodge Sportsman Travel Craft into a 21st century Mobile Cyber Rover.
To help fuel our own creative juices, and our community’s, we found a fantastic vid from on YouTube that just had to be shared. Check it out below.
Coming next week we’re gonna offer a vid tour of our newest project. A raw tour of a nomad-styled RV ready for renno fueled by cyberpunk design.

Who didn’t fall in love with the glass screen interface seen in Minority Report? I mean, who doesn’t want to do all their work performing interpretive dance? Dream come true right?
Sick as that was, its probably still a little out of reach for many of us. However, there are options…
Never to be outdone, Instructables comes through again with a fantastic walk-through on the Raspberry Pi Smart Mirror. For a few hundred bucks and a little DIY, we too can have our own self designed smart mirror. And for those looking for code fuel, Amy gave us the source.
And finally, if vids play easier in our world, DIY Smart Mirror (that doesn’t steam up!) by DIY Perks on YouTube does a great job of walking us through it if we can get past the damn Harry promos! BTW, don’t forget to check out the comments below that vid too, there is some great stuff there.
What better way to schedule our day, inform our lives, and check out our latest body mods all at the same time? This is a project we all should check out. At the very least it might even make us a little cottage industry to fuel our Cyber-Wealth. Again, you gotta check out those comments.

We aren’t going to rehash all the available styles in Cyberpunk 2077, they can easily be pondered here and examined from the point of view of the fantastic Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk 2020here. Both PCGamesN.com and cyberpunk.fandom.com are fantastic sources too that we love as well. Not sponsored, just sharing out great intel!
BCB Cyber Take on Fashion
Back to the subject though… What we are going to say is that our favorite aspect of cyberpunk fashion is that while it may be dark in color, functional and structural, at all times capable of allowing us full use of our razor arms, it is also at every instance full-frame stylish.
As for us, we are just hoping the folk’s at CD Projekt Red kept those grim’d up, gear’d up yellow pants available! We do love the flashiness!
We just love to share the coolest gear out there to cyberize and self-make our worlds, so to those ends, we thank you as always for joining us in this quest! Come back soon and to find more out on Cyber-Gear follow this link!
