Cyber-Play releases our inner technophile loose upon the world both imagined and real. In doing so, we increase our sense of physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being through creativity and imagination.

“Technology is not neutral. We’re inside of what we make, and it’s inside of us. We’re living in a world of connections – and it matters which ones get made and unmade.”

-Donna J. Haraway, American Professor Emerita,
University of California, Santa Cruz

Free-flow of digital current is all around us and ripe for inspiration. High-tech, low-life that can be harnessed to fuel our passion for tech infusion into our daily lives can be found down the hole if we only had our very own white rabbit.

BCB Cyber is that guide. What lies within is the guide we all need: complete with reviews, discussion, and access links for further exploration. New media when harnessed can fuel our passion for creativity, expressiveness, and ultimately individuality. While it may be true that human ingenuity inspires technological progress, it is also most true in the reverse. The very thought expressed through creative media disrupted by tech can fuel every person’s ability to stand against the norm. Join us as we increase our cyber-current, and maximize our digital power.

What Makes it Cyberpunk?

At once BCB Cyber proposes an inspiring opportunity to explore both cyberpunk and post-cyberpunk genres in a way that enhances and energizes our lives. Combining all the elements of IT, social dystopia, dark/cynical tones, and the high-tech, low-life of cyberpunk, we too walk the line looking for those redeeming elements of corporate and governmental agents found post-cyberpunk. Albeit, always with a critical, questioning eye.

Moving Image

High-tech low life as it appears on the screen began changing our reality as early as the 1980s when Blade Runner hit theaters. In a deluge of cyberpunk inspired films and animations, the world of digital integration into our lowly, daily lives created a backwash against corporate greed, struggle, and exploring our humanity against the technology we employ to enhance it.

There is much to be learned and inspired by in this world of exciting CGI, popcorn flicks, and mind-bending explorations into what a tech-infused world really has to offer. So click below to follow us down the rabbit hole, take your seat, and enjoy the ride.

Story on Page

Story on-page is always the true core of a movement. Human imagination, and therefore the spark for the technology itself, begins where the human intellect free flows into words on a page (pulp or digital). This is where humanity first questions itself as new developments in the world consume it. Image by Jirreaux Hiroé from Pixabay

When Philip K. Dick first laid bare his feelings on human “androids” devoid of empathy as the Nazi’s had exemplified for him, he started humanity on a journey that would aid in its exploration of what was to come (#CommissionsEarned). Blending a new world of technology into humanity that had just witnessed itself torn apart by war not but a few decades earlier, the works of early authors like Dick and William Gibson (who gives birth to the first true Cyberpunk Novel in Neuromancer) would truly usher us into the 21st century (#CommissionsEarned).

Crude and neophytic as they were, they were also brilliant, before their time, and incredible gifts offered to a human race just beginning to wrestle with the techno-lithic world to come in the 21st century and beyond. Join us as we muse, reflect, rank, and critically tear apart this world, not to mention enjoy the hell out of it!

November 19, 2020, is coming fast and we are all anxiously awaiting the release of Cyberpunk 2077 (#CommissionsEarned). In this new game from developer CD Projekt Red, we will explore the newest, seedy rendition of the Night City dreamed up by Mike Pondsmith and his pen-and-paper tabletop game.

No doubt the core will be the neon glow above seedy city streets, body augmentation, synth-wave, and police state overtones common to hi-tech, low-life gaming. Pull up to the bar, order a drink, maybe some noodles, and explore with us gaming in cyberpunk.

Story in Place

Tech integration into societies all over the globe is clear to see. Large corporate influence floats on every city skyline. The influence is even in your backyard; more than we may even realize. Travel with us as we discover the dystopic tech landscapes we call home and journey with us to those around the globe.
