Ok, so yeah, we’re not there yet. But we will be next week. We are uncovering a lot of cool stuff about this company that we are dying to share with you all. So, just to whet the whistle and keep the appetite fed, we wanted to put out a little teaser this week.
One of the most interesting technologies created by Medtronic is a cardiac tracker called Reveal LINQ that is the size of an AAA Battery. While this particular device is used to monitor heart conditions, its size and potential for expanded functionality is remarkable.
The fact that these technologies have been around for a while, shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. This one in particular was heavily talked up back in 2014. From what we’ve discovered so far, people who’ve had the device inserted had very favorable experiences and really talk up how minimal the process is to install. These kinds of experiences are definitely pushing adoption. Just check out this review…
The point we are interested in particularly goes beyond the specific, current medical benefit. Back to 2014… speaking to the eventuality that these kinds of devices will be part and parcel with our everyday lives, then program director Mark Phelps said “I would argue that it will eventually be seen as negligent not to have these sensors… It’s like driving without any gauges of your feedback systems.” What he was speaking toward was that companies like Medtronic were looking forward to a day when fitness trackers worn on our wrists, etc. are unnecessary as we will already have them installed in us to monitor everything from basic biorhythms to specific organ health.
Big Data in Healthcare is definitely watching us! The sky is the limit with this potential integration into our lives. Join us next Tuesday, 12.22.20, for the full reveal on Medtronic we will further our explorations of the companies looking to push the limits of the human body with an investigation of Medtronic. A company whose first tenet is to “alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.” How could we not choose as one of our focused analyses the world’s largest medical device company.
Full disclosure, we are a shareholder in Medtronic. Remember, cyberizing our lives includes making use of and benefiting from all the technologies that are changing the world. This is just another example. Hope everyone has a great day; we’ll see you tomorrow!
Good Monday everyone and welcome to the BCB Cyber Series that takes on the tech…
