Hustling

Creating side-hustles with technology must be at the core of our low life. Its likely that many of us live paycheck to paycheck and budgeting will likely get us on the right track, but only with extra hustle can we truly set ourselves free.

Commerce is our goal here at Tyrell, he responds. More human than human is our motto.

-Dr. Eldon Tyrell, Founder/Engineer/Chief Executive of Tyrell Corporations from Blade Runner (1982)

Cyberpunk is full of hustle. Before Neo could become the savior in the film The Matrix. The one, as he was referred to, had to push himself to the limit, learning and developing his talents and abilities if he was ever to discover the greatest version of himself.

This didn’t all come in one moment however, training with Morpheus (a human resistance leader in the film) and pushing himself against the construct (a computer world created to reflect real-world spaces) helped propel him to what he became. His hustle allowed Neo to become the one. Neo took on more than anyone else and pushed himself to excel. Neo committed to the hustle.

Unfortunately, there is no way around it. We all need to put in the extra effort to build our future. It’s literally how we can begin to define ourselves; for we could never truly be who we want to be if we are strapped into giving all our waking hours to someone else! In choosing to push, to give it all we have, we can build a better future.

Side hustles can not only allow us the opportunity to create self-defining financial means but also can feed our desire to learn about and incorporate tech into our lives. Learning, growing, and getting out of our apartment to interact with and harness the tech all around us opens the door to opportunity.

As the 9 to 5 doesn’t pay the rent anymore, we must do all that we can to produce more. At first, this means extra effort. In the end, it will mean our ability to self-define through tech built wealth found in passive income streams.

“Some people want it to happen, some people wish it would happen, others make it happen.”

-Michael Jordan
Hustling creates the opportunity we need to help drive our efforts toward individuality. Tech offers the pathway forward.

We deserve better, but no one is going to give it to us. We have to be the agents of our own change, it’s on us to push forward and make it happen.

We produce more and our income will sustainably rise. As a result, we will not only gain financial means through technology with passive streams of income, we will remain competitive in the technological economy. We will not be pushed aside due to the advancement, but moreover, we will thrive and self-define ourselves as we harness it.

There are a variety of ways to do it but we need to clean up our lives and earn more money. There is just no other way. Money is not good or bad, its just a tool. As is technology. Its time to put them together, clean ourselves up and get to hustling.

Getting lean, cleaning out, and selling the stuff we don’t use anymore is the start. Take a hard look at what is lying around. Old tech, gym gear, collectibles, furniture, whatever; if it doesn’t provide value or help us toward our goals, get rid of it. Too much clutter in our lives simply distracts from the goal of creating the life we truly want.

Once we’ve cleaned up, our next task is to get out there and dedicate extra time each week to making it happen. This means a side-gig or developing our skills to get a raise. Grinding it out, paying down debt, and using all the extra’s earned in our side hustle will will build the base of our individual freedom. And with freedom, comes the opportunity to define ourselves as we see fit.

BCB Cyber, each week seeks to bring new inspiration toward our community-driven inspiration. To start, however, we want to offer 3 elements we can use toward building successful efforts in hustling.

3 Elements for Success in Our Side-Hustle

There are a variety of tech-based opportunities to get our side-hustle on; although, finding success in any venture can be difficult to obtain. However, there are three recognized ways to get our side-hustle on and increase our chances. They are adapted for cyber-fuel here…

1. Work to Failure, then Succeed

Work, so that we may reveal our true talents… Each one of us has many different interests, abilities, and skills. When it comes to technology, we are all at different levels.

The best thing with tech, however, is that it is available to each of us at all our various levels of ability. Best of all, it is now all around us and even in our pockets. Pull out that phone, download a learn-to-code app, and jump in. The opportunities are endless. Too many people are worried that they will fail. Failing is the point. Its time to put on our play with a tech mindset and just have fun. The more we explore the more we will discover for ourselves what we can be and do.

2. Transformation through Pain

We’ve already discussed how valuable choosing the pain in our lives can be. Now is the time to accept the pain… For everyone, the pain and suffering that come along with every aspect of life can be transformative. In every new venture, we embark on difficulties that will no doubt arise. By choosing to suffer and grind we find challenging and worthwhile opportunities that can give us the drive and meaning we need in order to develop who we are.

3. Showtime = Demonstrate Successes

As diving into technological opportunity gives us the chance to work on many different projects, we need to develop our own Portfolio of tech experience that we can share with our developed community of fellow enthusiasts. This can help us develop an understanding of how our hustle develops and offer points of reflection for the goals we strive to achieve in our side-hustles.

Side-hustle projects in tech are everywhere, and yes, we will make mistakes but with each mistake, we become more capable. Each and every extra dollar we earn builds our character so long as we choose to use it wisely to build wealth. We define who we are through our mistakes and create a set of abilities that allow us to take our place in the disruptive world of tech. Who knows, maybe we will be the next source of disruption and growth!
